In my mind, seasons of life read like chapters in a book. There are chapters of beautiful beginnings, hardships, and trials, and then there are some seasons that are just full of grace. That one word marks a special summer in my life, and I can credit that to Wendi Lou Lee, who embodies the name Grace and radiates it, too. Wendi’s name may not sound familiar, but if you’ve watched Little House on the Prairie, then it won’t take you long to realize who she is. Wendi and her twin sister both played the character of baby Grace on the show that captured my heart as a little girl. I grew up with these characters on my screen, but meeting Wendi brought these people to life.

Now, how in the world does a gal from Oklahoma meet grown-up Baby Grace? Well, a few years ago, I discovered something new to me- book launch teams. When an author is about to release a new book, they either hire someone to put together a launch team, or they round them up together themselves, which is exactly what Wendi did. I had been a part of a few launches and have loved every part of it! You get a copy of the book early to read and then get creative with sharing about it to anyone and everyone you can. Your main goal is to get the author’s name and their book out to your main sphere of influence. As a natural encourager, cheerleader for people working towards their dreams, and an avid book reader, I enjoy every part of it. So, when Wendi was taking applications for her launch team, I set my fingers to typing as fast as I could before submitting my application and eagerly waiting to hear if I’d get to play even a small role in helping to launch her book “Red Tail Feathers.” This, my friend, is how Brentlee’s life got a little sweeter by connecting with Wendi Lou Lee.

Red Tail Feathers: Dare to Discover the Beauty of Grace is Wendi’s life story printed on paper and saturated with grace. Not only because of the character she played on TV as a little girl, but also because of how she has been open to God working in and through her life, even when she may not have even realized it. Each chapter walks you through a season of her life that points to a new facet of God’s goodness even in the midst of what feels like pain, sorrow, and sadness. Wendi’s story is a story of redemption, of an intentional God with a plan of purpose that surpasses what we could ever hope to dream of. How sweet it is to see how God placed a baby in just the right place to set her up for a lifetime of sharing His good grace with everyone she meets. Did I tease the book enough yet? I finally met Wendi in person in September of ‘23, however, I was able to get to know her in the several weeks prior. Her book launch was the most unique one I’d ever been a part of, and let me tell you- if I ever release a book, I will be modeling my launch after Wendi’s. She personally hosted weekly Zoom meetings for a group of people who were quite literally from around the world. It blew my mind each week to think that I was talking to people in other states, and even in other countries, at the exact same moment. Not only were we talking about the launch, but boy, were we praying for it too. Her launch team ended up being more of a prayer team, and it blew me away. Everyone thanked God for Wendi and her story and prayed for all those who would read her words to be impacted beautifully by them. I would get off the call and thank God for letting me witness just how sweet this launch was.

Dare to Discover the Beauty of Grace

Red Tail Feathers hit its launch day, and Wendi has been busy on tour with the Little House on the Prairie cast in celebration of 50 years since the show aired. One of those stops would bring Wendi over to the beautiful town of Pawhuska, Oklahoma for both her own book tour and a dinner with the cast. It’s one of my favorite towns to spend time in and I was over the moon excited to meet with her in person. I loaded up with a sweet friend of mine and we spent a beautiful day together getting copies of our book signed by Wendi herself. It’s one of those Summers that get marked with special memories because they included special people in my life.
